Why Costa Adeje – Tenereife is the best place for your first paragliding flight?

Tenerife is known for its “eternal spring” climate, so you can plan your first paragliding experience almost any month of the year without worrying about extreme cold or heat. The island’s mountainous south coast creates gentle thermals and reliable winds that are ideal for tandem flights with first‑timers.

From the moment you meet the team until you land on the beach, the whole process is simple, guided and designed for first‑time flyers. Here is how it usually works step by step in Costa Adeje with take‑off sites like Taucho or Ifonche.

How does the tandem paragliding experience happen?

Meeting and check-in

You either meet at an easy landmark near Playa de la Enramada / La Caleta. Then you get into the van together with your pilot and other guests for the drive up towards the mountains above Adeje. This transfer usually takes 20–30 minutes and already offers great views over the coast.

Depending on the wind and weather, the team chooses the most suitable take‑off of the day. These sites are used daily for tandem flights because they offer reliable conditions and clear launch areas

Safety briefing and getting ready

Before anything else, your pilot gives a clear, short safety briefing covering take‑off, the flight itself, and landing. You learn exactly what you need to do: mainly walking or jogging a few quick steps at take‑off and keeping your legs ready for landing.

Next, you put on a comfortable harness and helmet. The pilot double‑checks all the straps, carabiners and lines and only when everything is perfect do you move to the launch point together.

Take‑off and flight

At the edge of the take‑off, the paraglider wing is laid out behind you and connected to both you and your pilot. When a suitable breeze arrives, the pilot inflates the wing, asks you to walk or run forward, and within a few steps, you feel lifted gently into the air.

Once seated comfortably in the harness, you can relax and enjoy around 15–25 minutes of flying over ravines, villages and the coastline of Costa Adeje. The pilot controls everything, keeps the flight as calm or as dynamic as you prefer, and often points out landmarks and explains what you see below.

Approach and landing on the coast

Most flights glide down towards the coast, with common landing areas around Playa de la Enramada or nearby open zones, chosen according to conditions on the day. As you approach the landing, the pilot reminds you of the simple instructions from the briefing, usually asking you to  lift your legs at the right moment

You touch down softly on the beach or a flat landing field, where ground staff help gather the wing and unclip you from the harness. After a few photos and a quick debrief, the team either drives you back to the original meeting point or to your hotel in the south of Tenerife, depending on the service you booked.
